Richfield Artist Wins 2013 Pheasant Stamp Contest

A Richfield artist was named the winner in the DNR's 2013 Pheasant Stamp Contest. Timothy Turenne's painitng was selected from among 14 entries in this year's contest.

Ed Durose of Roseville took second place. Mark Thone of Shakopee finished third.

Turenne finished third in the 2011 pheasant stamp competition.

Hubert Joly began his first day today as Best Buy's President and Chief Executive Officer. Joly was appointed to the position by the Richfield-based  company's board of directors in August.

Joly will spend his first week on the job working as a Blue Shirt employee in several Best Buy locations around the Twin Cities.

Minneapolis City Council Member Betsy Hodges is expected to be elected today as President of the Minnesota League of Cities.

The League advocates for local government, offering analysis and guidance in decision-making to more than 800 municipalities across Minnesota.

Minneapolis Gets Low Ratings for 'Manliness'

Minneapolis is getting less manly.

The city now ranks 40th out of 50 cities for manliness. That’s down from last year when Minneapolis ranked 36th.

The study measures the number of home improvement stores, steak houses, and motorcycles per capita. Researchers say there was a drop here in “manly” occupations and shops.
