Hold Off Pruning Your Ash Trees

Our early warmth means that the emerald ash borer has made an early appearance this year.  As a result, if you have an ash tree in your yard, the City Of MInneapolis asks that you avoid pruning or moving any of the wood because of the risk of spreading the beetle.

About 20 percent of the canopy in Minneapolis is made of ash trees.

Minneapolis Polling Residents on Sidewalk Salting

The City of Minneapolis is asking residents to take a short survey on how they salt their sidewalks during freezing conditions.

The poll includes questions about what chemicals they use, how much, and where they apply them.

The survey is open until March 15th.

The city of Minneapolis is giving residents one last chance to get rid of leaves or other yard waste as winter arrives. Anyone wanting to participate in the special yard waste collection is asked to prepare and set out their yard waste by 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7. Crews will be collecting Dec. 7 through Dec. 9.

Friday is 11/11/11...and government offices in the City of Minneapolis will not be open in observance of Veterans Day.

City officials say this won't affect garbage and recycling pickup and services--those will be on a normal schedule.

You've Got 1 Week Left to Rake

The City of Minneapolis will pick up yard waste for the final time this year on Monday, November 14th.....

That means it's time to rake and bag your leaves.

You can include pumpkins, gourds and other decorative plants in your bags--but the bags must weigh less than 40 pounds.

Bags of leaves and bundles of brush must be set next to the garbage cart by 6:00 a.m.
