The Friends of the Minneapolis Central Library will host a fundraiser next month to expand activities that promote early childhood literacy and school readiness. Donations will be used to purchase developmental toys and equipment.

Twin Cities girls will walk the runway in historical and contemporary fashions from the American Girl® line of dolls in the 12th annual American Girl Fashion Show® presented by the Junior League of Minneapolis. Shows are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway in Minneapolis.

Richfield Artist Wins 2013 Pheasant Stamp Contest

A Richfield artist was named the winner in the DNR's 2013 Pheasant Stamp Contest. Timothy Turenne's painitng was selected from among 14 entries in this year's contest.

Ed Durose of Roseville took second place. Mark Thone of Shakopee finished third.

Turenne finished third in the 2011 pheasant stamp competition.

We're all looking for freebies these days.  Did you know, that this Saturday, September 29th, museums nationwide will open their doors for free?  It's part of Smithsonian magazine's Museum Day Live!

Museum-goers can download free tickets on the Smithsonian website, which grants free admission for 2 people.

Minneapolis Goes for "Soul Train" World Record

Organizers of the North Minneapolis FLOW Arts Crawl are hoping to get at least 1,000 people to take part in attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Soul Train Line.

The event is planned for Saturday, July 28th on West Broadway Avenue in North Minneapolis.

Participants are encouraged to bring skates and any Soul Train era outfits and gear.
