3,500 Local Hospital Workers Vote to Strike

About 3,500 members of the Service Employees International Union Healthcare Minnesota voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to strike.  After two days of voting, 91 percent supported the strike option.

If the union calls a 2-5 day strike it would affect:

-Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina
-Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis

More Than 1,000 Trees to be Planted in North Mpls

The effort to replace the thousands of trees lost in North Minneapolis last year is continuing today.

Volunteers will plant more than 1,000 trees this week in the area. Last May’s tornado destroyed about 5,800 trees.

This week’s effort is part of the Arbor Week Northside “Treecovery” event that runs today through Saturday.
